Fang Zhou
Fang Zhou is a scientist and engineer by training. After finishing his Ph.D. and postdoctoral studies at Yale, Fang joined a new biotech start-up in 2001, building it from the ground up.
Before founding biopm, llc in 2017, Fang held various scientific and managerial positions in life sciences companies — Invitrogen (now ThermoFisher), Merck & Co., and BioResource International (now Novus). In these roles, he led product development, commercialization and manufacturing, drove quality and continuous improvement, and facilitated enterprise transformation initiatives and post-merger integration. As a consultant and trainer at Valeocon Management Consulting, Fang helped Fortune Global 500 companies develop sustainable solutions and build internal capabilities in R&D, manufacturing, quality, and support functions.
Fang wants to help people gain new insight and knowledge when “no one knows the answer.” His approach to innovation, business improvement, and problem solving is rooted in proven scientific principles and methods of knowledge acquisition – progressive learning in an uncertain world. His deep knowledge in science, engineering, data analytics, management as well as consulting experience enable him to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams.
Lifetime learning and knowledge sharing is Fang’s passion. Since 2020, he has been part-time faculty at Georgia Institute of Technology, helping thousands of professionals learn and apply data science skills in today’s digital world. As a volunteer, he has had various roles for Project Management Institute and American Society for Quality. He is an alumni mentor for undergraduate and graduate students, and a STEM mentor for local middle and high school students.
Fang Zhou received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and Master of Science in Analytics from Georgia Institute of Technology, and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry from Yale University. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Project Management Professional®.
Fang is an author of peer-reviewed articles in science, technology, and management, as well as a US patent on protein microarray. His scientific expertise includes protein structure, enzymes, biochemistry, and assay development.
